Little Italy is a small, historic neighborhood, northwest of Downtown San Diego. It comprises of a variety of mixed-use buildings alongside detached homes, classic Spanish-style bungalows, chic townhouses, condos and cool loft spaces that typify an urban neighborhood.
Little Italy is a lively neighborhood filled with sidewalk cafés, urban wineries, art galleries and the beautiful Amici Park. Dozens of outdoor seating areas will encourage residents and visitors to sit and stay a while and, when you are done sitting, a marked one-mile walking loop can be found right in the middle of the neighborhood.
It wouldn’t be Little Italy without piazzas and this neighborhood has many.
According to Walk Score, this is the third most walkable neighborhood in San Diego so residents here have very few reasons to ever need a car.
The Little Italy sign was constructed to pay tribute to the immigrants who created this vibrant neighborhood. The mosaic tile work on each side of the street tells the story about how this neighborhood is tied to the bay and Italy.
